About

What’s up foodies? My name is Justice Stewart and I am a chef in NYC. I spent many years in the construction industry before deciding to change careers and enter the culinary world. I began my journey as a self-taught cook, and I have embraced learning the craft over the years of experimenting at home with recipes during my free time. **Update at bottom of the page

It always helped that I had tons of support from friends and family that I’ve prepared many meals for. In fact after tons of encouragement by everyone, I decided start to this blog in 2011 to share my passion with the world. I was born and raised in Queens NY which is a neighborhood that is very diverse when it comes to all things culinary. It was here I gained my passion for different types of cuisine.

Have you ever walked in a bookstore browsed through cookbooks but decided against buying one because you had no idea what some of the ingredients were? Do you view dishes such as butter poached lobster or cognac shrimp as entrees only a pro chef can prepare?  I will simplify some of these recipes and help the average home cook prepare gourmet meals for friends and family. If I can do it, you can do it!

Not only am I obsessed with cooking, I am an avid fisherman and you will find many dishes that are ocean to plate in this blog. I love to travel the country and experience new things that are trending on the culinary scene from fine dining to street food. I’m also a person that enjoys meeting new people who share the same interest of food like I do. I often collaborate with other cooks/chefs to do pop up dinners and tastings here in New York. Giving back to the community is essential to me and I do this by cooking or speaking at schools and various children charities. I also had the opportunity to help produce a popular online cooking show called “Neighborhood Chefs” in 2012 with some amazing folks. I’m not sure how often I’ll post, but please check back to see what I’ve been cooking up.

**Update: I left the construction industry and entered the culinary world on a full time basis. I began working as a sous chef for a catering company serving the offices of a major social media company based in NYC. I also spent time working as a sous chef at Madison Square Garden for the VIP clientele during professional sporting events and concerts. I am now a private chef and caterer working out of Brooklyn, NY.

My cookbook, Mastering the Art of Sous Vide Cooking  was released in December 2018 (Page Street Publishing).  I am currently the Executive Chef of the International Sous Vide Association. The International Sous Vide Association (ISVA) provides education, networking opportunities, and experiential events for enthusiasts (both professional and amateur) of the sous vide cooking method.

    • Hey thanks a bunch, I appreciate you taking the time to view my dishes. People have no idea that you can prepare TRUE restaurant quality meals at home. Also we live in a world of technology, where everyone is too lazy to cook with fresh ingredients. Anyway thanks for visiting and I will check out your blog tonight 🙂

  13. Hi Justice,
Christmas Eve tomorrow here. We are not cooking the traditional. We never do. On Christmas Day, we will cook roast rib of beef, Yorkshire puddings, potatoes and roast winter vegetables. We will have smoked salmon and home made brown bread to start. A meringue cake with raspberries to finish. There will be no photos or posts. It is a family time. Wishing you a happy Christmas and all the best in 2011.
